Navy offensive lineman David Forney was found unresponsive in his Bancroft Hall room Thursday night and died on his way to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at Anne Arundel Medial center in Maryland later that night. He was 22.

While a cause of death has not yet been announced, I am wondering if it had anything to do with rapid weight loss? Over the last couple of years, Navy lineman have been “bulking up” to gain more weight so they can better compete with the other Class 1 schools they face, and then at the end of the football season for the First Class players, try to loose all that weight so they can get under the weight restrictions in time for commissioning in late May.
